OurLifeTree Origins & Inspiration
My name is Emma Karlsson. I was born and raised in Sweden, a country known for having some of the world's best ancestry historical records. It seems I've always had an interest in knowing more about my history, who my ancestors were, where they came from and what they did for a living.
During my childhood, my aunt and I worked together often, tracing our own ancestry. We spent countless hours in the library looking at microfilms. Then, we had to order from our local library microfilm files which included "Parish Records" that dated back hundreds of years which were sent via regular mail. At times, we waited weeks for a single microfilm before we could move to the next step in our research. Still, the investigative process was thrilling. It was as though my aunt and I had a dectective firm and we were 'investigating' our ancestors.
Today, my passion for research continues - though now, my expertise in the Web, graphic design and digital photography brings great advantages to the process. A story reveals itself with every person and family researched, and as the story reveals itself, it feels as though the people being researched become part of my family, and I want to know more about them.
I now spend half of my time in Sweden and the other half in the United States. This arrangement gives me unique perspective and the strategic ability to work with partners in both Sweden and America on your behalf.
